This is a detail from Inertial Haze that I submitted to People's Gallery for 2012. I hope it gets in so you can see it in person. I've worked with paper, twigs and cardboard before but this is a new synthesis for me and I'll be doing more of this because it stimulated multiple possible directions. I think I'll be adding subtle color and extending the forward plane slowly. Handmade paper, reclaimed twigs and cardboard. I started working on this in February of this year and had to put it off to work on other pieces with deadlines so it feels good to finally finish this study.

I've been blessed this year like the last in the number and quality of opportunities to share my work. The latest exhibit at grayDUCK (thank you, Jill!) filters our relationship with nature through three different artists' microscopes (Dameon Lester, Jessica McCambly and L. Renee Nunez).
In spite of numerous common denominators: importance of scale, pattern, texture, movement and negative space, the works diverge into varying realms of nature referencing body interiors (Dameon Lester's texturally appealing cellular forms); elegantly efficient movement and line (Jessica McCambly) and primordially blended animal and plant body structures (L. Renee Nunez - me)
